Fisher's had a pretty good mission and values statement from years ago. The problem is, no one at Fisher's knew it and we did not use it in our business. We recently embarked on creating a new mission and core values statement... and the result fits our strategy and culture perfectly.
Why have a mission statement at all? A mission statement defines why a company is in business… what we are here to do. The importance of a mission statement, if it is well engrained in every member of the team, is to help guide decisions. We tell everyone that if they make decisions in alignment with the mission statement and values of Fisher’s, they have made a good decision. We may realize later that there was a better decision, but we are all doing well if we make decisions that support our mission.
So our new mission statement and core values are:
Our mission is to make our customers extremely happy by delivering exceptional customer experiences.
We achieve this mission by:
- Delivering best in class document management hardware and software technologies
- Providing expert consultants on the application of technology to achieve business goals
- Responding to service needs with expediency, professionalism, and compassion
- Enhancing the communities in which we live and work
- Earning a fair profit to meet our obligations, sustain our growth, and ensure long term stability
Our mission is further enhanced by our core values:
- Customer happiness. Continuously making our customers happy, as we know we are in business solely because of them.
- Effective communication. Consistently providing clear, proactive, productive, and timely communications to external and internal customers.
- Honesty. Developing transparent, honest, ethical relationships with our customers and with our team members.
- Collaboration. Functioning as a team and working outside of our job responsibilities to help each other make customers happy.
- Accountability. Doing what we say we are going to do, without exception.
- Continuous improvement. Always developing into better service providers, technologists, and individuals.
