I am pleased to publically announce Fisher's Document System's new partnership with Idaho Power Company. This is already proving to be a wonderful partnership and I could not be more honored that Idaho Power selected the Fisher?s team to help them with their printing and copying environment.

Fisher's Changing to Succeed
The Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce recently asked me to write a short article about how Fisher's has changed and innovated in our business to succeed in these challenging economic times. This is the article I wrote:

Launching a New Mission and Values Statement for Fisher's
Fisher's had a pretty good mission and values statement from years ago. The problem is, no one at Fisher's knew it and we did not use it in our business. We recently embarked on creating a new mission and core values statement... and the result fits our strategy and culture perfectly.

Benchmarking is Great, Until it Limits You
As a newcomer to the copier and printer industry, it was important for me to benchmark Fisher's against the best copier companies in the country. I did this through our association in the Copier Dealer Association, through my position on Canon's Dealer Advisory Council, and through other industry relationships. While invaluable to our turnaround of Fisher's, benchmarking also has a major risk: Becoming limited in ideas, strategies, and expectations.

Copier Companies Traditionally Have a Short Term View of Customers
I am now three and half years into this industry and a very simple concept just came to me... something that quickly and accurately summarizes the difference between growing copier companies and shrinking copier companies: Short term versus long term view of the customer.

Canon, the #1 Provider of Copiers, Listens to Boise, Idaho
Most copier and printer manufacturers have some sort of advisory board to represent their dealers. In most cases, however, these board meetings are boondoggles for the manufacturers to reward their best dealers with 5-star resorts and golf outings. Canon, on the other hand, not only takes the opportunity to listen to its advisory board members... it actually acts on the feedback.

Experience Fisher's Service (Copier and Printer Service in Idaho)
When I joined Fisher's three years ago, it was a scary proposition to ask what our customers thought about our service. Frankly, we had poor service and did not have a culture of doing everything in our power to deliver a top notch customer experience. We are now very proud of the experience we deliver to our customers.
